THE WORLD’S LEADING PROFESSIONAL PIGMENTATION REMOVAL METHOD

WHAT IS COSMELAN?
Cosmelan is a in-clinic depigmentation treatment that acts as an enzyme peel to reduce and inhibit the production of melanin (brown discolouration). Its dual action approach to treating dermal pigmentation both corrects blemishes and regulates melanin production. It consists of two different types of product applications: A mask applied in-clinic and a cream applied at home. It is effective at combating hyper-pigmentation, melasma, (pregnanct mask), acne scarring, and other discolouration of the skin.

HOW DOES IT WORK? THE PHYSIOLOGY BEHIND COSMELAN.

Cosmelan works by inhibiting melanin production. Melanin is responsible for the dark pigmentation seen on the skin. The body produces it as a response to UV exposure, but hormones, ageing, and acne may also trigger it. By inhibiting a specific type of enzyme (tyrosinase) that is directly involved in the production of melanin, Cosmelan can reduce melanin production and the discolouration it causes in the skin.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

The two-phase intensive treatment program firstly involves the application of a highly potent de-pigmenting mask. This is applied at the clinic and it is not washed off for up to 8-10 hours following application (dependent on skin type). The second treatment phase is at-home maintenance creams that should be applied twice daily to enhance the effects of the mask.

Two to three days after the treatment is applied, the skin will begin to flake and peel. For these first few days, the face may feel tight, itchy and be slightly red.

WHO CAN HAVE THIS TREATMENT?
Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel is safe for all skin tones and ethnicities.

Cosmelan is not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have cystic acne, open wounds, infections, rosacea, psoriasis or dermatitis in the area to be treated. Not recommended for those that are pregnant or nursing as fluctuating hormones may cause the pigmentation to return.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The Cosmelan Depigmenting Facial Package includes a one time in-clinic peel and 8 weeks worth of Cosmelan depigmenting homecare products. Clients will need to continue on the recommended homecare for a total of 6 months then continue using a tyrosinase inhibiting (e.g. Vitamin C) homecare regime ongoing after this to prevent the return of the pigmentation. Your therapist will educate you further throughout the process of your Cosmelan Depigmenting Facial Package.

RESULTS
The results of the treatment become evident by about 10-14 days with visibly clearer & brighter skin. Ongoing improvement in the skin can be seen over the next few months.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
As long as maintenance skin care is continued, the results from a Cosmelan Peel can last for years or be permanent.
